You may or may not know that I have a puppy. 🙂 Her name is Harley Quinn, and she is perfect! I recently sort-of inherited a weird chair from a family friend and couldn’t help but turn it into a puppy throne.
Have you ever seen a chair like this? It showed up on my doorstep a couple of months ago. I first debated if I should try to sell it? Take it straight to Goodwill? But then inspiration struck! Every puppy needs a throne! It took me a few weeks to get back to it – I have learned that if I don’t do projects almost instantly or literally schedule them into my calendar, that they won’t happen! (Holla if ya hear me!)
I finally remembered to take a before picture! And a work in progress picture! #winning ☺ I’m not totally sure how I inherited this super strange pseudo-chair, but I’m so glad I did. My Harley Q needs a throne! 🐩👑 #diy #doityourself #homeimprovement #homedecor #interiordesign #homedesign #home #decor #design
I first started with cleaning up this low rider, then proceeded to paint the back and legs with Behr’s Dolphin Fin in an eggshell finish. We had a bit left over from painting Tyler’s office / comic room (Yes, you read correctly – comic room!)
This chair is pretty dark and detailed, so it took a few coats. Once this was dry, the real fun started – distressing and antiquing! I used these Valspar products in a past project, so I knew it would work out well! I may have gotten a little crazy with the sandpaper, but Harley doesn’t mind…
Some close-ups to show the detail:
And now, the pièce de résistance! A complete puppy throne! I found the blinged out cushion at At Home. It’s a perfect match!
Harley Q has sat here a total of 1 times! (The one time I bribed her for a photo op!)
Can you tell that she is OVER IT!?
I’m guessing that she will never hop up there again! I had fun refinishing the throne nonetheless. Think I have a future in upcycling dog furniture? What’s the most outrageous thing in your home? Why do you still have it? Does it bring you joy like the KonMari Method suggests?
